The Schools-First/Infants School
Bulkington first or infants school is now the Village centre. It is no longer a school but is still a place of learning as many activities are held there.
The first school has now moved to the west of the village to Weston Lane and the Weston in Arden C of E Infants School.
The old first school took children from 5 to 7 before they move to St.James Junior School in Barbridge Road when aged 8.
I was there during the 1960's,below is a list of teachers I remember.

Head Mistress
Mrs Davies

Teachers
Miss Sharrott
Mrs Watts
Mrs Garside
Mrs Ashley
Mrs Whitby
Mrs Sephton
The entrance to the Village Centre was the old entrance to the first school, although there was no flowers beds at the time and the path took a different route
I remember the old lollipop man had only 1 ear,who was he?
Well here is the answer
It was Dave Welch's Grandad - Charlie Welch who lived over the Midland (HSBC) bank at the time. He lost his ear down the pit as a young man.

He moved form the flat to Lenard Perkins Old persons complex and died some years ago aged 97.

You may also remember him as caretaker of the pavilion in the recreation ground?
The playground which was situated at the back of the school, but didn't have the lamp post and plants as in this picture. The door to the kitchen is on the right of the picture.
The school frontage in 2008.Now with a red sign above the door (green in the top photo). The original path ran from the entrance to the bottom hand corner of the photo.A road way to the new doctor's surgery has took it's place.
The large sign was where the exit was and a large brick wall ran from left to right with a gate in the middle. There was another exit which came out on to The Barbridge, which runs from School road to Barbridge road.
A view from The Barbridge the path ran directly from the school straight towards the camera. There was no railings up while it was a school.
