The Old School --- School Road

Originally built in 1861 to replace the existing school,due to the growth of the village it was badly needed and cost 1,740 pounds for 400 pupils.
Being in the heart of the village it not only a school but was used for events,meetings and get-togethers for the folks of the village.
The building lasted over hundred years and was converted into the parish hall in the 1960's,it was totally demolished in the late 60's when the hall was updated.But since then the building has changed hands and is now a motor show room.
The village now has a centre in the building of the old infants school which stands at the back of the showroom.(See first school page)

The old chestnut tree in the old photo's bit the dust in 1988 due to it's decay.But as we can see from the new photo trees have took it's place.
